Tennis Shoes on PE days!                                                                          

Tennis shoes are the dress code on every day of school, but very important on PE days.
"Shoes: Tennis shoes • No lights, wheels, or cleats allowed. • Shoes must be laced and tied at all times." (Policy Book). 

  • K & 1st grade goes to PE on Monday, Tuesday, & Friday.
  • 2nd & 3rd grade goes to PE on Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday.
  • 4th & 5th grade goes to PE on Monday, Wednesday, & Thursday.
  • Wapelhorst Preschool (3/4 yr olds): Tuesday
  • Wapelhorst PreK (4/5 yr olds): Friday
  • Wapelhorst Afternoon: Tuesday
  • Relph PreK: Friday

 

Morning Mighty Milers

  • What is Morning Mighty Milers?
    • Morning Mighty Milers is set up so students can walk/jog laps around the perimeter of the playground inside the fence or in the gym.
    • It is a way for students to get a little extra movement before the school day begins.
    • This is an alternative for sitting
    • Registration is not required. All students may attend.
  • What are the Dates and Times?
    • 2026-2027 Change: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
    • Middle School only will get open recess in the gym on Tuesday & Thursday mornings.
    • 2026-2027 Change: 7:25-7:40. Students who arrive prior to 7:25 will report to the cafeteria.
  • Incentives for Mighty Milers
    • All students in the school will receive the incentive this year.
    • No milage or participation will be tracked
    • Lost incentives will not be replaced.
    • T-shirts can be worn on Field Day and Wellness Fridays.
    • T-shirts are NOT spirit shirts.
  • Times to note:
    • The cafeteria opens at 7:15 AM for students to wait until 7:40 AM. Students should not be dropped off prior unless specifically arranged with a specific teacher, Mrs. Klein, or administration.
    • Students who want to walk/jog laps in the gym will be picked up at 7:25 AM from cafeteria, or as they trickle in after 7:25 AM.
    • Classroom doors open at 7:40 AM
    • School starts at 7:50 AM

Wellness Challenge Information

Dear Families,

We're excited to announce the start of our first Wellness Challenge Week! This challenge begins this Friday, September 11th. We will have 5 challenges during 2026-2027 school year! These weekly challenges will be introduced at school and are designed to be continued at home as a family throughout the week. Each challenge, we’ll focus on a different aspect of wellness, such as physical, spiritual, mental, and social wellness. Each challenge is for one week and they are one time a month.

Wellness Fridays are listed on the school calendar (SCOS Calendar), and here are the upcoming dates:

  • Sept 11 - Sept 17 | Wellness Friday: Sept 18 (Shirt color: _______________)

Dress Code for Wellness Fridays:

Students who participate in the challenges at home will have the privilege of not wearing their uniforms on Wellness Fridays. Instead, they may wear:

  • Tops:
    • Spirit shirts
    • T-shirts, sweatshirts, sweaters that match the theme color
    • Shirts must have sleeves and should not be tied or adjusted
    • Mighty Milers shirts are always allowed (even if they do not match the theme color)
  • Bottoms:
    • Ankle-length blue jeans (no holes or frayed hems)
    • Sweatpants, joggers, or workout pants
    • Boys may wear uniform bottoms
    • Not allowed: leggings, workout shorts, or PJ pants

    • The ½ sheet note that your oldest child brings home, this will have all the details!
    • Mr. Barr's Friday Siena Scoop Email, the day the challenge begins
    • Mrs. Elson's PE Webpage, at the beginning of that month
  • This will be the only email about Wellness Challenges this year to minimize inbox clutter.

  • The Challenge is announced in the morning and afternoon announcements every day of the challenge.

  • Karate: Karate for Kids  Who wants to be a ninja? Join Abbey Manser on her YouTube channel to learn basic karate skills for kids.
  • Sworkit Kids App: The Sworkit Kids app makes it easy to create and tailor workouts that fit your kid’s age, ability, and fitness level
  • I Am Love: Kids’ Yogaverse: As your kids strike each of the thirteen yoga poses and breathing techniques featured in this yoga-focused app, they’ll gain flexibility and strength.
